Explaining the Reality of the Situation in Sudan, the Minister of Industry and Trade Holds Economic Talks with Government Ministries and Industrial Companies in Tokyo
As part of her visit to Japan to participate in Sudan Day events, Ms. Mahasin Ali Yaqoub, Minister of Industry and Trade, accompanied by Mr. Al-Elrayih Hyduob ,the Sudanese Ambassador to Japan, and Mr. Kentaro Mizuchi, Chargé d’Affaires of the Japanese Embassy in Sudan, held several meetings with government ministries and industrial companies.
She visited the headquarters of the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and met with Ms. Tsugizaka Takako, Director-General of International Trade Policy.
During the meeting, the Minister explained the improved security situation in most Sudanese states, particularly Khartoum State, following the victories of the Sudanese Armed Forces against the rebel Rapid Support Forces militia. She emphasized the invitation to Japanese companies to invest in Sudan, especially during the reconstruction phase, and highlighted the significant incentives offered by the Sudanese government to attract investment.
She also visited the headquarters of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) and met with its president, Mr. Norihiko Ishiguro.
The meeting discussed ways to strengthen economic and trade relations between the two countries, particularly through the reopening of JETRO’s office in Sudan, especially following the stabilization of the security situation in Khartoum. The two sides also explored ways to benefit from Japan’s extensive experience in reconstruction, infrastructure development, technology transfer, and capacity building in the agricultural and mining sectors.
At the headquarters of Eisai Medical, she met with the company’s CEO, Mr. Haruo Naito.
The Minister commended the company’s efforts and its cooperation with the Mycetoma Research Center. Mr. Naito expressed his regret over the destruction of the research center in Khartoum due to the war and mentioned the company’s development of a new drug to treat mycetoma, expressing his hope for its urgent registration in Sudan. He also confirmed the production of a new and effective treatment for malaria.
